Disgraced Chinese scientist, Dr He, has been missing for over a week.
After receiving widespread criticism for using gene-editing technology to alter the genes of twin girls in an attempt to protect them from infection with the HIV virus; Dr He has not been seen since he tried to defend his behaviour at the Human Genome Editing Summit in Hong Kong.
Dr He’s work has been universally condemned, and China's Vice-Minister of Science and Technology has shut down Dr He’s lab and ordered a full investigation into his work.
