Queensland will soon face its biggest weather event since March, with tropical Cyclone Owen set to bring strong winds and heavy rain in the coming days.

 

The Bureau of Meteorology says the storm could turn into a Category 3 cyclone by Thursday, and residents on the Queensland and Northern Territory border have been advised to take precautions.

 

The cyclone is then expected to track down the east coast over the weekend bringing heavy rainfall, with Mackay set to be hit with 80mm.
