Supporting the United States, Australia has reaffirmed its commitment to coal, at the recent United Nations climate talks in Poland.

 

Apart from the host represented at the event, Australia was the only other country to support the use of fossil fuels, with protesters disrupting the panel discussion for several minutes unfurling a banner reading “keep it in the ground” whilst singing “shame on you.”

 

Australian Ambassador for the Environment, Patrick Suckling, says Australia needs to be open to innovation and new technologies, saying the country would make continue to make investments in low-emissions innovations.
