Labour plans to set Gladstone as the “hydrogen capital of Australia” by establishing a National Hydrogen Innovation Hub in the small regional town, 550km north of Brisbane.
Hydrogen is at the front of a $1 billion federal labour plan to boost the renewable energy industry, with predictions the industry could be worth $10 billion in the next 20 years, whilst creating over 16,000 new jobs in regional Queensland.
These funds will go to Clean Energy Finance Corporation supporting clean hydrogen development.
