The First Lady of the United States mistook retiring Foreign Minister Julie Bishop for the wife of a minister.
Minister Bishop told audiences at the Adelaide Festival when she and her partner were introduced to First Lady Trump, she was invited to the partners “ladies” lunch at the United Nations General Assembly Leaders Week in 2017, instead of her partner David Panton.
First Lady Trump apparently was confused when Minister Bishop informed her Mr Panton would instead be attending.
President Donald Trump has stepped in to explain the misunderstanding to the First Lady.
