A National Library of Australia archive of Australian websites from as early as 1996 has been published, as a 20 year effort to protect Australia’s cultural history.

Ms Allison Dellit of the trove service of the National Library explains the website has been collecting pages since the mid 1990s, capturing the primitive designs and information of the time on various Australian websites including the Prime Minister’s website, which was initially John Howard’s, and one of the first ABC News websites.

Ms Dellit said, "There was such a recognition early on that the internet was going to change the way Australians communicated with each other, the way that we shared information, what we had access to and how we did it."
