South-east Queensland towns are reaching record breaking temperatures throughout the warmest March week on record.

The Ipswich suburb of Amberley reached 41.3 degrees after 3pm yesterday, smashing its previous record for the warmest March day, which was 38.9 degrees in 1965.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe storm warning for the recording breaking week, with damaging winds, heavy rainfall and flash flooding expected for the central coast and inland areas.
