A company proposing a cable car project in Hobart's kunanyi/Mt Wellington said they have referred online threats to sabotage work sites and endanger workers to Tasmanian Police.
A spokesman for the Mount Wellington Cableway Company said the threats against the company, workers and suppliers are unacceptable and cautions protesters not to put anyone's personal safety at risk.
The Residents Opposed To The Cable Car group said the Hobart Cable Car Supporters Group are inciting violence through their Facebook posts, and reject allegations they made violent threats against the project as a “dirty-tricks campaign”.
Meanwhile the Hobart Cable Car Supporters Group claim the opposition group are “professional activists”, with a spokesman saying their group is frustrated with misinformation and just wants a mature discussion.
