Brisbane’s newest tower, Skytower, which reaches the city’s tallest allowable height of 274 metres, is nearing completion at 222 Margaret Street.

The 90 floor building is so big it could house the entire population of Longreach, which is fitting considering Brisbane is often referred to as a “big country town”.

Roughly 650 apartments in the bottom two thirds are already occupied and Rick Graf, a spokesman for the Sydney-based property developer Billbergia which is one of the company’s behind the project, says the exclusive top eight floors, filled with penthouses, had not yet been released to market but were expected to go on sale by the end of the year.

The largest penthouse, which spans across three levels, is expected to sell for about $8 million.
