The European Union has said Brexit may be extended on the condition that UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s plan gets approved by British parliament.

President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, said a short extension may be possible, but it is conditional on a positive note.

The EU said that the extension would either be only until May 23rd or significantly longer, to allow for EU voting between the 23rd and 26th of May.

If Brexit has not been completed by May 23rd, the EU also said the UK will be required to participate in EU elections.
