Following the completion of commissioning activities, the Toowoomba Regional Council are due to start pumping operations in Wivenhoe Dam from Early April - in line with the Cressbrook Dam falling below the 40% capacity trigger point.
Mayor Paul Antonio says the combined dam levels in Toowoomba are about 35.5% and although the allocation of water from Wivenhoe won’t fill the dams completely, it will provide water security for future years.
The Council is committed to providing long-term water security to the Toowoomba region and activating the pipeline is the first step.
