Brisbane City Council has committed $550 million to build 5 new green bridges across the city, but has no plans to expand the notorious Walter Taylor Bridge in the city’s south-west.

The single-lane both-ways bridge connects Indooroopilly and Chelmer   

Transport Minister Mark Bailey has questioned why the condition of Walter Taylor Bridge was overlooked, considering it is a single-lane bridge that is continuously gridlocked, due to its constant use

Mr Bailey said with the council spending $650 million on upgrading Kingsford Smith Drive, there was "no reason" it couldn’t improve the Walter Taylor bridge.
