With seven in ten drink bottles to be made from 100 percent recycled materials by the end of 2019, beverage giant Coca-Cola is set to help the environment by doubling the amount of recycled plastic it uses across its entire beverage arm.

All small packages 600ml and under will be made entirely from recycled plastic, reducing the amount of new plastic by an estimated 10,000 tonnes each year from 2020.

Data disclosed by Coca-Cola to the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment showed it was the biggest producer of packaging waste in 2017, using three million tonnes worldwide. Managing director Peter West addressed the issues and stated the need to step up and show some leadership in this issue.
