The Labor party announced plans to ban gay conversion therapy if they're elected after Prime Minister Scott Morrison said although he doesn’t support the practice, it’s a matter for state governments.
Morrison said his focus is on things he believes the government actually has control over, like lowering taxes.
Labor’s pledge to take national action has been welcomed by LGBTIQ+ advocacy group Equality Australia.
