$10 million worth of funds has been promised to help upgrade the North Sydney Olympic Pool

In order to help fund extensive upgrades to the North Sydney Olympic Pool the federal Coalition has promised $10 million worth of funds if the Morrison government is re-elected.

$28 million has been put aside by the North Sydney Council which is dedicated to improving the harbourside pool’s aging infrastructure, however, they have said a further $30 million is required to complete the project.

The council has said the pool needs urgent remedial works and unless the state and federal governments helped fund the $57.9 million redevelopment, the Milsons Point pool could be closed.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, spruiked the funding boost when he visited the pool saying “this is an iconic part of Sydney, I think this pool is architecturally splendid. It's only fitting, given it's in a state of disrepair and it's just a function of its age, that this old lady can be made beautiful again."
