A new study has found that more children are surviving into adulthood as the world’s population continues to rise, but the number of disabled people has also increased.

The JAMA Pediatrics journal published research that has found a decrease of 51.7% of global child and adolescent deaths from 1990 to 2017, but there has been a 4.7% increase of disability.

This research was a part of a study for the Global Burden of Disease report and it found that children and adolescent deaths fell from 13.77 million in 1990 to 6.64 million in 2017 with the most common reasons for death being diarrhea, acute malnutrition and lower respiratory tract infections in that year.
