Singapore has now criminalised the sending of unsolicited intimate images, known as “cyber flashing”, as part of a major crackdown on online sexual harassment.

The reforms to its criminal law were approved on Monday by the city state’s parliament, including other new offenses for upskirt photography and “revenge porn” which are punishable by up to five years in prison.

Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law in Parliament, K Shanmugam says there’s been a prevalence of “cyber flashing” over social media via messaging platforms and penalties will also be enhanced where the victim is below 14 years old.
