Torres Strait Island groups say they are losing their homes to rising sea levels and are filing an official complaint against Prime Minister Scott Morrison to the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva, Switzerland.

Environmental law charity ClientEarth supports the groups and says a complaint such as this one will be the first of its kind against the Australian Government’s alleged current lack of efforts to tackle climate change.

Fiji's Prime Minister also took action against Australia’s climate change response and criticised MP John Alexander’s suggestion in moving Pacific Islanders to higher ground to avoid the impacts of climate change.
