The Prime Minister of Papau New Guinea has resigned after several key members defected to the opposition.
Peter O'Neil has faced weeks of calls to resign over several issues including the signing of a multi billion dollar gas project.
Mr O'Neil told PNG broadcaster EMTV the decision is important to keep the country stable.
