Doctors Without Borders say children are dying in a collapsed camp for families from the Islamic State caliphate because they are allegedly shunned by aid groups and kept under tight security restrictions.

After Islamic State’s self-declared caliphate collapsed in March 2019, Kurdish-led forces began guarding fighters and their families in the al-Hawl camp in Northern Syria.

Doctors without borders say 300 children in the camp have died due to the poor care they receive as heavy restrictions have severely limited the access to healthcare and basic services, with the camp authorities security concerns allegedly taking precedence over medical and humanitarian needs.
