Malaysia’s last surviving male Sumatran Rhino has died, pushing the critically endangered species closer to extinction.

A single female Rhino remains in Malaysia with an estimated 80 Rhinos left in the world, mostly on the Indonesian side of Borneo and the island of Sumatra.

Cathy Dean, CEO of the London-based charity, Save the Rhino International, says despite the death, there is still hope the species can be saved from extinction, with conservation efforts focused on breeding programs.
