Labour Senator Kristina Keneally has become the Shadow Home Affairs Minister after the frontbench was announced yesterday afternoon.
Senator Keneally says she will provide tools to keep the borders secure and ensure asylum seekers are treated humanely.
Mr Dutton says the new Shadow Minister is unqualified and did not support boat turnbacks or offshore processing in the past.
