Tens of thousands of Israelis marched through Jerusalem on Sunday to celebrate the recapture of the city’s east in the Arab-Israeli war.

Muslim worshippers at the Al-Aqsa mosque were angered over Jewish visits to the site, which are holy to both religions, as the holiday coincided with the final days of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

According to police, protesters barricaded themselves in the mosque, and threw chairs and stones at forces who "dispersed" them.
