- Let’s play mummies and daddies and dinner parties. If you come over and I’m making veganó penne á la vodka on a Tuesday afternoon and listening to something that makes you a little nervous, ask me, and I’ll say “I’m listening to the debut Triple Negative album, Precious Waste In Our Wake”. Once you nod politely and hope I’ll change the subject instead I’ll give you some unsolicited music trivia: the unofficial album title is “The Fucking Terrible Receding Shapes, We Shed Precious Waste In Our Wake” “what a name!!!”. The genius of the full title only and obviously implies it’s a vicious vat of kinetic collaged energy, without ever becoming that bummer of experimental music that is just an ambitious and pretentious waste; no, it's precious waste.

If you need to lean on what you know to enjoy something (pity!) think This Heat or even Brisbane’s Lost Domain or Exiles From Clowntown. I reckon this is what Pious Faults will sound like in two to five years. Worth mentioning that this is on the same label that’s stocking Pious Faults in the UK, so it must gots legs (it does!). Pair with: spiritual dinner parties with your rock-inclined-avant-intimates.

My favourite song is Under The Void / Destroyer (Full Unabridged Lyrics: “Destroyer” repeated indefinitely). There’s this bit in Under The Void / Destroyer where the melody matches Captain Beefheart’s “go on, go on, go off, go off, go off, go off” bit in The Clouds Are Full of Wine [Not Whiskey or Rye]. Triple Negative have this hot, free rock patchwork thing going so you’ll probably find something for yourself, for your friend, anyone, I don’t know you or anyone or what they’re about, but I say it goes on and on and off.

In my sixteen years of being alive I’ve learned that all that you need to pay attention to and harness in this world is energy, positive ferocity, whatever, so make paying rent stressful this week like I did and buy it. Sydney’s Repressed Records have it so maybe order online, call your local record store for once, they won't bite, Flaming Tunes on Tuesdays 1-3pm, better yourself by spending yourself.
