A Fraser Island dingo advocate has called for more government action just days after tough new fines came into effect.

Fines for intentionally feeding of disturbing dingoes increased on Friday from $391 to $2088, however Cheryl Bryant from Save the Fraser Island Dingoes says it is still up to those on the island to do the right thing.

Ms Bryant says she believes more fenced areas are needed as well as a cap on the number of visitors to the Island.
