A business found guilty of selling thousands of pieces of fake, Indonesian-made "Aboriginal" art has been slapped with a $2.3 million fine by the Federal Court.

Birubi Art Pty Ltd, which is now in liquidation, was founded by Ben Wooster. Mr Wooster is also one of the co-founders of WAM Clothing company, which reacently issued 'cease and desist' to Aboriginal clothing companies demanding they stop using the Aboriginal flag on their merchandise.

The Federal Court found Birubi had made false or misleading representations that thousands of products it sold were made in Australia and hand painted by Australian Aboriginal people.
