At 7.30 this morning, four Extinction Rebellion Activists used a canoe to block both commuter lanes on Victoria Bridge during peak hour traffic to demand urgent action on the climate crisis.
The activists have locked themselves onto a canoe using metal pipes to ensure they cannot be removed without being cut out and said the use of the canoe is symbolic of the sea level rises and destruction of the Reef caused by global warming.
Extinction Rebellion promises continued disruptions until their demands are met, including a shut down of Brisbane CBD on Rebellion Day, the 6th of August.
