A thousand complaints were made about local councillors in the past financial year to Queensland’s new councillor conduct watchdog.
The Office of the Independent Assessor was established late last year by Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe under new legislation to monitor and hold Queensland’s local councils to account.
Since its establishment, 917 complaints were made about councillor conduct, 240 of which were made in the last quarter.
