Independent candidate Oliver Yates will challenge the Liberal Party’s Chinese language signs, which were designed to resemble Australian Electoral Commission posters during the federal election.

The Liberal Party signs used the same colours as the AEC material and said the correct voting method was to place a number 1 beside the liberal candidate.

Yates, who was unsuccessful in his attempt to claim Kooyong against treasurer Josh Frydenberg, says the signs infringe the Electoral Act.
