A complaint was lodged about a judge who told an Indigenous mother she was likely to have been drunk on pension day and, as quoted, abandoned her kids in, “that great Indigenous fashion”.
The judge, Greg Borchers, has made inappropriate comments in the past, and was removed from the Alice Springs Youth Court in 2017 as a result.
The Northern Territory Criminal Lawyers Association met on Wednesday night to revise Bochers’ conduct and lodged a formal complaint to the chief judge.
