New powers introduced following the Christchurch terror attack are being used by Australian esafety authorities to remove violent material from the internet, including live-streamed murders.

eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said her office had received 413 reports of "horrific" content appearing online since the legislation came into effect in April.

This morning it was reported that footage of the Christchurch attack is still available online nearly six months after the tragedy.

Companies and individuals can face up to 3 years in prison if they fail to remove violent content.
