A Brisbane mother is the first woman to run for the Lord Mayor of Brisbane in the 2020 election.

Kath Angus has been preselected by the Greens and is a breastfeeding advocate, educator and parent, running against current LNP lord mayor Adrian Schrinner and Labor candidate Rod Harding.

Alongside her bid will be several other women preselected by the Greens, who hope that the diverse group will win seats from the LNP.

Ms Angus and the other female candidates were motivated by a lack of community contribution and local development.
