Proposed construction plans for a four-line Sydney Metro network, with up to 39 new railway stations, have recently been unveiled to the public- depicting changes that would provide new cross city rail connections and new stops in Sydney's west.

This map has been released a week after the Victorian Government's issuing of $50 billion plans for a suburban loop line in Melbourne, where six new stations will be constructed.

By 2024, Sydney's single Metro line, which presently links Chatswood and Tallawong in the north, will be linked to Bankstown in the city's Southwest.

Alterations to the railway with the recently opened Metro and the 2024 construction plans are predicted to cost over $30 billion, with the New South Wales Treasurer Dominic Perrottet stating that the state should "get a higher proportion of infrastructure spending", given the rise in population.
