The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority warns the prospect of Great Barrier’s Reef is very poor.
According to the 2019 Outlook Report, climate change is threatening the sea lives’ wellbeing and the reef’s value as a World Heritage Area is thus challenged.
“The Great Barrier Reef is widely recognised as one of the best managed marine protected areas in the world and its World Heritage values remain whole and intact. However, it is challenged by multiple and broad-scale pressures,” says Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority CEO Josh Thomas.
The report pinpoints that activities like fishing or snorkeling by the reef will put it further at risk.
