LOGAN sporting groups, including a soccer club targeted by vandals and thieves, were the major beneficiaries of more than $625,000 from the state government’s gambling fund.

The Bethania Rams Football Club will use its $35,000 grant to install a commercial kitchen, which will help the club with fundraising activities and as a venue which sells food.

The club was a target of thieves in June and July when thugs broke in and stole the club’s ride-on mower and then trashed the clubhouse – with police still yet to charge anyone for the crimes.

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund delivered grants for worthwhile projects from $500 to $35,000 with applications now open to community-based, not-for-profit organisations.
