An Indian pre-university college has been forced to apologise after an image showing its students wearing cardboard boxes on their heads during an exam went viral on social media.

The college administrator at Bhagat Pre-University college in Haveri Mr MB Satish said the cardboard boxes were used for an experiment to prevent its students from looking at their peers’ work and claimed that the students had consented to the practice.

Educational official SC Peerjade has ordered the management to stop the “inhumane” practice, and is currently considering disciplinary action against the school.
