The Queensland government is offering a total of $100 000 to community groups across the state willing to help raise awareness of sexual violence.

Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women Di Farmer said the funds are available for organisations wanting to host events, projects and activities that raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and promote education around sexual violence in Queensland.

“Importantly, these grants are about keeping the conversation going about sexual violence, to let people who’ve experienced sexual violence know that they are believed, that what has happened to them is not okay, and that there is help available," Ms Farmer said.

One in five women and almost one in 20 men have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15.

Community organisations can apply for grants of up to $15 000 for activities between June and August next year.
