A development application for a mixed-use office, healthcare and community space at the heritage-listed Boggo Road Gaol precinct in Dutton Park has been lodged with Brisbane City Council.

The application was made by development group Stockwell, which has been working with the state government to revamp plans for the state-owned site after a 2017 proposal was scrapped.

"boutique commercial development", which is the heritage boundary surrounding the 1880-era site, proposes demolishing some newer parts of the jail.

If approved, the development would remove the late 1970s-era watchtower and walkway, and detention cells built in the late 1980s.
