The 41st Sydney Mardi Gras, recently finished this year on March 1st, brought partygoers from across the country, with approximately 300,000 people and 191 floats present during the festival.

One of those floats, was the Runway Movement, making their Mardi Gras debut. The  Runway Movement is a group of chosen family members, consisting of LGBTQI people of colour - who are situated in Brisbane. They’ve been around for 1 year, focusing on LGBTQI+ people of colour, and their creative narratives which often are silenced. The Runway Movement is now, one of the most in demand, creative groups in Brisbane.

A member of the Runway Movement said “it’s great to be seen by the LGBTQI+ community, that there are other cultures present within the community.”
