The Federal Court has ordered US pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson to payout almost two point six million dollars in compensation, as a result of a large-scale class action.

Three Australian women received the payout in response to complications caused by faulty plastic implants.

The implants are intended to reinforce the pelvic floor, however poor manufacturing processes and negligence left many women experiencing chronic pain and damage to surrounding organs.

Over one thousand, 1,350 women are involved in the class action.
