In the days leading up to International Women’s Day, residents in Brisbane known as book ninjas are leaving books authored by Australian women on trains and buses.

This is part of the national Books on the Rail initiative, which began in Melbourne in 2016.

There are about 10,000 of these books that have been distributed by book ninjas in Australia, all of which bear a sticker reading “take me, read me, return me.”

The initiative is an effort to bring book lovers together and encourage more people to read.
