Qantas has been issued with an improvement notice by safework New South Wales after inspectors said the airline could potentially be placing passengers at risk of contracting infectious diseases such as coronavirus.
The Safework New-South-Wales report said that employees are required to handle wet and used tissues, used face masks and soiled nappies without the adequate protective equipment to do so.
It was also found that cleaners have been using the same cloths to wipe tray tables and other surfaces.
The airline has been given until the end of the month to improve its cleaning practices and sanitary conditions.
