Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has survived an assassination attempt, after his convoy was attacked in the capital, Khartoum, close to the prime minister’s office. The AFP News agency has reported that nobody was hurt in the attack.

The perpetrator of the attack is currently unknown, but Sudan’s political climate has remained precarious since last year’s shifts in power.

Mr Hamdok has tweeted he “would like to assure the people of Sudan that [he is] safe and in good shape”, and that the attack is “an additional push to the wheel of change in Sudan”.
