Essential supplies and food have been delivered to flood-affected areas in outback south-west Queensland.

After a 21-year rainfall record was broken last week for the wettest day in Thargomindah, and ex-cyclone Esther dumped torrential rain on the region, The Bulloo River reached 5.4 metres on Sunday.

Trucks were stranded on remote cattle stations, and livestock have been moved to higher ground.

While the rain is welcomed by residents, some business operations have been temporarily ceased. Workers have been flown out of the area.
