Consultation opens today on a state-wide single-use plastic ban, initially to focus on straws, drink stirrers, cutlery and plates.

The ban is set to be introduced in July 2021 and will focus on eliminating single-use items like plastic straws, cutlery and stirrers, taking into account the needs of people with disability.

The Minister for Environment Leeanne Enoch says the Government is seeking feedback from Queenslanders and businesses to develop and implement the best plan to ease the transition to a plastic waste-free economy.
