Tourism operators are calling for the Ekka Show holiday to be moved, in a bid to increase tourism and create a long weekend. Although this year’s show is cancelled, the state government is able to move the holiday if enough public interest is generated.

UPDATE - The Queensland Government has announced that the RNA Show holiday will be moved to Friday, August 14 for one year.  Consultation has been done with the Royal National Association and the Brisbane City Council to achieve this.

Premier Annastasia Palaszczuk is encouraging people to use this long weekend to “bring the City to the country” by choosing to holiday in Regional Queensland.
