A 35-year-old zookeeper has been airlifted to NSW St George Hospital after being attacked by a lion, Friday morning. 

The zookeeper was cleaning out the lion’s enclosure at the time of the attack. 

Serval ambulance crews, rescue helicopters and police were called to the scene, treating her with critical injuries on her head and neck.

NSW Ambulance duty operations manager Faye Stockmen, said that it was one of the worst jobs, literally walking into a lion’s den.
