James Cook University scientists will use genetic testing to discover better ways to regrow rainforests.

Associate Professor Lucas Cernusak is the Chief Investigator on the project and Professor Cernusak said “There’s been a dramatic decline in global forest cover, with a net loss of more than 3% over the last 25 years.”

The project will run for three years and will test how trees genetically adapt to different environments to determine what types of tree people should use when they undertake to restore forests.
