37 demonstrators were arrested over the weekend at the Kangaroo Point hotel during the protest demanding the release of asylum seekers detained after being brought from Manus Island and Nauru under orders that they receive specialist medical care.

The protestors were charged with refusing to comply with police orders after they staged the sit-in over the weekend and will face court at later dates.

The men in detention have been confined to the hotel for a year and overall seven years in detention.

The sit ins were one of many conducted over the past few weeks around the hotel.
