Acting Immigration Minister Alan Tudge says Hong Kong citizens in Australia could be sent back if they fail visa tests.
Alan Tudge says permanent residency for Hong Kong citizens fearful of China is not guaranteed and anyone who is a bad character or a security concern will be returned.
Tudge says the Australian government has decided to offer visa extensions to Hong Kong citizens already in Australia instead of offering a separate safe-haven visa.
